This morning, at 11am, we had our annual Remembrance Day Assembly. The very moving assembly, with presentations in English, French & Hebrew, was lead by Talia and Ari and included: the poem “Poppy Poppy” from the Kindergarten class; a song from the Grade 2 students about not having to learn about war; a reading of the poem “Au champ d’honneur” – dans les trois langues de notre belle école; the Grade 4 class reciting the poem “I Dream a World”; and a candle-lighting ceremony accompanied by a Remembrance Day video. The assembly culminated with a speech from Colonel Mark Larsen. A 30-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Colonel Larsen spoke of the importance of our freedom and of never forgetting those who gave their life fighting for it.
Thank you to Mr. Cinanni and Ms. Bertrend for organizing today’s event. Thank you very much to Colonel Larsen for speaking at OJCS today. Most importantly, thank you from all of us at Ottawa Jewish Community School to all our troops past and present for everything you do for Canada.
Lest we forget. N’oubli jamais. לעולם לא תשכח
